In case people aged 75 and over are not eligible for social pension benefits
There are cases where people aged 75 and over are not eligible for social pension benefits if they do not meet the prescribed conditions.
Article 3 of Decree 176/2025/ND-CP stipulates as follows:
Social pension subsidy level
1. Subjects specified in Article 2 of this Decree are entitled to a monthly social pension allowance of VND 500,000/month.
In case the subjects specified in Article 2 of this Decree are also subjects receiving monthly social allowances, they will receive a higher allowance.
2. Depending on socio-economic conditions, the ability to balance the budget and mobilize social resources, the Provincial People's Committee shall submit to the People's Council of the same level a decision on additional support for social pension beneficiaries.
Accordingly, the subjects specified in Article 2 of Decree 176/2025/ND-CP are entitled to receive a monthly social pension allowance of VND 500,000/month.
Referring to the provisions of Article 2 of Decree 176/2025/ND-CP, it is stipulated as follows:
Subjects and conditions for receiving social pension benefits
Subjects and conditions for receiving social pension benefits as prescribed in Article 21 of the Law on Social Insurance, specifically as follows:
1. Vietnamese citizens are entitled to social pension benefits when they meet the following conditions:
a) From 75 years old or older;
b) Not receiving monthly pension or social insurance benefits; or receiving monthly pension or social insurance benefits lower than the pension benefits prescribed in this Decree;
c) Having a written request to receive social pension benefits.
Thus, for Vietnamese citizens aged 75 and over who meet the following conditions will only receive social pension benefits:
- Not receiving monthly pension or social insurance benefits; or receiving monthly pension or social insurance benefits lower than the pension benefits prescribed in Decree 176/2025/ND-CP;
- Having a written request to receive social pension benefits.
This means that if citizens aged 75 and over do not meet the above conditions, they will not be eligible for social pension benefits.
