Focus on implementing safety, peace of mind, and well-being for women in Ho Chi Minh City
HCMC - On the morning of December 21, the 1st HCMC Women's Congress, term 2025 - 2030, was officially held.
The congress, attended by 301 official delegates, represented more than 2 million female members in the city.
In her opening speech, Ms. Vo Ngoc Thanh Truc - Member of the Central Presidium of the Association - Member of the Standing Committee of the City Party Committee - Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Ho Chi Minh City - President of the Ho Chi Minh City Women's Union for the 2021 - 2026 term said that the congress has an important historical significance for the organization of the association and the city's women's movement, taking place in the context of Ho Chi Minh City entering a new stage of development with an expanded space, a multi-center structure, extensive, large-scale regional linkages, high requirements and strong aspirations.
That context opens up opportunities and sets new requirements and tasks for the association in accompanying the city's development and increasingly better caring for women.
In her speech, Ms. Nguyen Thi Tuyen - Member of the Party Central Committee, Vice President of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, President of the Vietnam Women's Union commended and congratulated the outstanding achievements that women of all classes and women's unions at all levels of Ho Chi Minh City, collectives and individuals have achieved in the past term.
In addition to the achievements, there are still some limitations and difficulties such as the methods of operation of the association in some areas are not uniform, attracting members to participate in the association's activities are not commensurate with their potential, there is still unemployment, lack of jobs...
Ms. Nguyen Thi Tuyen suggested that the association focus on implementing 6 key points.
In particular, implementing well the 3 security: safety - peace of mind - well-being for women; continuing to care for social security, protect women and children; building a united, humane, modern living environment; the association's activities need to put women in the center, taking the legitimate and legal rights and interests of Ho Chi Minh City women as the goal, taking the consensus of women as a measure of the effectiveness of the association's activities...
In addition, it is necessary to mobilize each couple to have 2 children before the age of 35; perform well the core role of social mobilization to achieve gender equality, improve supervision, social criticism...
Ms. Van Thi Bach Tuyet - Deputy Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee said that Ho Chi Minh City is currently developing in a multi-center space, connecting the central urban area, industrial parks, innovation, marine economic space, logistics and tourism. Along with that, the strong differentiation of population structure, labor, family model and social security needs by region and group of subjects is posing new opportunities and challenges for the association's work in the coming time.
Ms. Bach Tuyet suggested that the Ho Chi Minh City Women's Union focus on implementing a number of key tasks such as continuing to thoroughly grasp, advise and effectively implement the Party's guidelines and resolutions, the State's policies and laws on women's work and gender equality; promoting activities to support women in the economy, start-ups, business startups; child care, preschool education and supporting women must be a strategic priority for population quality and long-term stability of the city...
At the congress, the Presidium announced the Decision of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Women's Union to appoint the Executive Committee, Standing Committee, President, and Vice President of the City Women's Union, term I, 2025 - 2030; Delegation attending the 14th National Women's Congress, term 2026 - 2031.
