On the morning of September 22, the Party Committee of the Fatherland Front and Central organizations held the 1st Congress of Delegates for the 2025-2030 term.
Attending were 346 delegates representing the intelligence of more than 5,000 party members in the Party Committee.
At the Congress, Mr. Nguyen Thanh Binh, Party Secretary, Chairman of the Vietnam Association of the Elderly (NA) presented a speech with the theme "Promoting the role of the elderly in building a cultural life, traditional education and building a strong association in the new era".
In his speech, Mr. Nguyen Thanh Binh recalled, recognizing the historical role of the elderly in the cause of national liberation, on June 6, 2021, President Ho Chi Minh issued the "Action to call for solidarity of all patriarchal groups". The writer: The responsibility of our elders in the countrys tasks is truly important. The country is prosperous thanks to the construction of the old town. The country exists thanks to the help of the elderly. The country was lost, the old man saved it. The country is collapsed, the elderly are prosperous".
For the past 84 years, the elderly in the country, regardless of their circumstances, have wholeheartedly followed the Party, according to Uncle Ho, absolutely loyal to the revolutionary cause led by the Party; encouraged their children and grandchildren to fight against the country, and built an increasingly "more dignified and more beautiful" national foundation.
The country's renovation over the past 40 years has achieved the same success as today, in which NCT has made an important contribution.
Currently, NCT Vietnam has more than 9 million people actively participating in labor, production and business, this is a significant resource contributing to the development of the country, creating jobs for millions of NCT and the social community, many NCT are honored as AhlD in the renovation period.
More than 1 million people are participating in working in organizations in villages, hamlets, and residential groups. More than 3 million elderly people participated in the mass movement to protect national security. Elderly people actively participate in preserving and promoting traditional cultural values of the nation.
The National Target Program on Cultural Development for the 2025-2035 period approved by the National Assembly will create a strong and comprehensive change in cultural development and perfect the personality, ethical standards, identity, and value system of Vietnamese people and families; especially building a cultural life, building happy families, building new rural areas, and civilized urban areas all relying on the exemplary role of NCT.
The work of preserving and promoting unique cultural values of the region has been used by NCT as a bridge to inspire and spread the message to society.
Every year, NCT Associations at all levels organize extensive cultural and artistic activities from the grassroots.
Especially in 2023, for the first time, the Vietnam NCT Association coordinated with the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism to organize a very successful singing festival for the elderly from the village to the whole country, creating a useful playground to attract tens of thousands of NCT artists and non-professional musicians to participate enthusiastically, contributing to converging and spreading the image of NCT participating in preserving and promoting folk songs, folk dances, praising the Party, Uncle Ho, homeland and country, beautifying traditional culture in contemporary life.
The singing movement for the elderly has created a widespread social spread to every place and every home; thereby attracting the elderly to "forget old age" and enjoy "youth".
The elderly always care about encouraging their children and grandchildren to study well, be good-hearted, contribute to building a lifelong learning society, and actively participate in the movement of "digital education".
In the flow of national traditions, NCT is a bridge between the past and the present, bringing national spiritual values that have been fostered for thousands of years in the history of building and defending the country passed down by ancestors and forefathers to inspire, arouse the will to self-reliance and self-reliance of the nation to children, children and the community, increase internal strength to contribute to bringing the country to the throne of glory.
Continue to uphold the spirit of "old mirror"
The President of the Association of the Elderly in Vietnam said that our country's elderly people were very happy and excited about the speech of General Secretary To Lam at the meeting with outstanding elderly people at the Presidential Palace (June 6, 2024), and the General Secretary emphasized:
"Having returned to the heroic tradition of the nation, we are even more proud of the glorious contributions of the country's great cities. Our country has the foundation it is today, it is impossible not to mention the important contribution of the elderly in Vietnam.
In the context of the current world situation, the elderly in Vietnam continue to affirm that they are a very important force, a solid support contributing to maintaining the country's stability and peace for sustainable development".
On February 20, 2025, the Prime Minister issued the Project "Old people participate in promoting digital transformation, green transformation, startups and job creation"; and on February 21, 2025, issued the "National Strategy for the elderly to 2035, with a vision to 2045".
These are documents assigned by the Party and the State to the Association, continuing to affirm a new vision, new aspirations, and new mission of NCT, contributing to bringing the country into an era of wealth, civilization, prosperity, and happiness.
In response to the new requirements of the country, the elderly continue to uphold the spirit of "brilliant age", making practical contributions to the effective implementation of the Central's strategic decisions, implementing the direction of the Party Committee of the Fatherland Front and Central organizations.
In the past, the NCT Association has seriously reorganized the apparatus in accordance with the direction of the Central Government. The Association has proactively reorganized the organization and apparatus of the Association, from 14 public service units previously, now there are only 3 focal points, from 8 Professional Departments and Offices, now streamlined to 2 Professional Departments and Offices.
The arrangement clearly assigns people, work, responsibilities, increases relationships, and coordinates to improve work efficiency, effectiveness, and efficiency. The Party Committee of the Central Association agency has done a good job of political ideology for cadres, employees, and NCT nationwide.
Therefore, the arrangement of the apparatus organization took place quickly, after the arrangement, it was clear that the sense of responsibility of cadres, party members, employees, and members of the Association at all levels were excited and confident.
According to Mr. Nguyen Thanh Binh, Vietnam is a country with a rapid aging population, so it is necessary to proactively and promptly have appropriate response policies and solutions.
The Chairman of the Vietnam Association of the Elderly suggested that the Party Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front and central organizations soon advise the Secretariat to direct relevant agencies to summarize Directive No. 59/CT-TW dated September 27, 1995 of the Central Party Secretariat on "care for the elderly", and consider issuing a new policy for the elderly in the new situation.
