Border guards stick to the area, bringing election information to voters

These days, at Border Guard Stations under the Border Guard (BGB) of Can Tho city, propaganda work on elections is being deployed synchronously with many diverse forms, targeting each group of people in the area.

In addition to focused propaganda sessions in residential areas, the "Border Guard Loudspeaker" model continues to be effective in conveying information about voters' rights and obligations, election procedures, as well as voting time and locations to a large number of people.

Officers and soldiers of Border Guard Stations also directly go to the area, to fishing ports and wharves to meet and propagate to fishermen who are preparing to go offshore to exploit seafood.

Mr. Nguyen Van Tho, from Cang hamlet (Tran De commune, Can Tho city), owner of a fishing vessel that regularly operates at sea, said that before each sea trip, fishermen are informed about the election by officers of Trung Binh Border Guard Station.

Border guards also distribute leaflets and brochures with content about elections. Thanks to that, fishermen understand more clearly the meaning of the ballot and their responsibilities. We will arrange time to return to participate in the election fully," Mr. Tho shared.

Propaganda work is also focused on by the City Border Guard units in remote and isolated communes with a large Khmer ethnic population. Border guard officers coordinate with local authorities and reputable people in the community to organize direct propaganda in hamlets, villages, and hamlets.

According to Captain Nguyen Huynh Viet Huy - Deputy Political Commissar of Trung Binh Border Guard Station - Tran De commune is a coastal area where most people live by fishing, so many fishermen regularly go to sea for long days, so focusing on propaganda is not without difficulties. Faced with this specificity, the unit has closely coordinated with local authorities to develop flexible propaganda plans suitable to the production and living conditions of the people.

At the same time, distribute leaflets and brochures and promote the effectiveness of mobile propaganda models to each hamlet, market area, and densely populated area to raise people's awareness of citizens' rights and obligations," Captain Huy said.

Also according to Captain Huy, in areas with a large Khmer population, the unit also coordinates with reputable people and people who know Khmer to propagate bilingualism, helping people "easily listen, understand, remember, and follow".

Colonel Huynh Thanh Hung - Political Commissar of the Border Guard Command of Can Tho City - said that the election of National Assembly and People's Council deputies at all levels for the 2026 - 2031 term is an important political event of the country. Therefore, the Party Committee and the Border Guard Command of the city have directed units to proactively coordinate with local Party committees and authorities to promote propaganda in many forms suitable for each locality.

We promote the role of cadres and party members operating in hamlet and village Party cells in charge of households to directly go to the area to propagate and mobilize people, especially fishermen and ethnic minorities, to understand the meaning and importance of the election and actively exercise their rights and citizens' obligations," Colonel Hung emphasized.

Colonel Hung said that the city Border Guard units also proactively deployed combat readiness plans to protect elections; ensure security and order; prevent and combat crime and border violations. Situation handling plans are organized for drills, forces are arranged to strictly protect border areas, key areas, election teams, polling locations and voter listing locations.
