Vietnam General Confederation of Labor starts construction of Trade Union social housing project in Bac Ninh

On the morning of September 25, the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor held a groundbreaking ceremony for the Trade Union social housing project in Viet Yen ward (Bac Ninh province).

Attending the ceremony were comrades: Nguyen Thi Thu Ha, member of the Party Central Committee, Vice President - General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF), Nguyen Dinh Khang, member of the Party Central Committee, Vice President of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor (VGCL); Thai Thu Xuong - Permanent Vice President of the VGCL; representatives of the Ministry of Construction, the Central Committee of the Vietnam Farmers' Union, the Central Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union.

Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Le Van Nghia - Head of the Trade Union Institution Project Management Board (VGCL) - representative of the investor said that the Trade Union social housing project in Bac Ninh was invested by the VGCL with trade union financial capital under the Housing Law 2023.

The project is located in Viet Yen ward with main items including: 2 blocks of 10-storey houses with a total floor area of 30,166m2, with 477 apartments for rent together with elevators and basic equipment and furniture: beds, wardrobe, kitchen cabinet... and a 3-storey parking lot with a total floor area of 3,024m2.

Mr. Le Van Nghia affirmed that the investor will work with relevant contractors and units to complete the project safely, ensure quality, strive to exceed the schedule, and soon welcome workers and laborers for hire in 2027.

Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Dao Quang Khai, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Bac Ninh province, said that Bac Ninh is the "industrial capital" of the North, attracting hundreds of thousands of workers from all over the country to live and work.

From the beginning of 2025 to now, Bac Ninh has completed 12,649 more apartments, reaching about 80% of the 2025 plan.

Regarding the Trade Union social housing project invested by the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, Mr. Dao Quang Khai said that the project is planned to synchronously have a system of cultural and sports institutions, green premises, creating a civilized, modern and safe living space.

"The project is of special significance in the context of Bac Ninh accelerating the implementation of urban development goals, striving to become a centrally-governed city by 2030.

The project will contribute to realizing the dream of settling down for thousands of workers and laborers, thereby encouraging and motivating them to work with peace of mind and stay with the enterprise and the locality for a long time," Mr. Dao Quang Khai emphasized.

Speaking at the groundbreaking ceremony, Mr. Nguyen Dinh Khang, member of the Party Central Committee, Vice Chairman of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, said that the Trade Union social housing project in Bac Ninh contributes to concretizing the Party's policies and the State's laws on developing social housing for workers and laborers, especially the Project of 1 million social housing units approved by the Prime Minister.

Mr. Nguyen Dinh Khang suggested that Bac Ninh province continue to pay attention and create all favorable conditions for the project implementation so that the project can soon be completed and put into use on schedule.

"I request the Trade Union Project Management Board, contractors, and relevant agencies to coordinate to implement the best and most effective measures to construct the project, ensuring quality, progress, and absolute safety," emphasized the President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor.

Participating in the groundbreaking ceremony, Mr. Luong Van Khu (born in 1997), a worker at Quang Chau Industrial Park - said that he hopes the project will soon be put into operation to register for lease.

"Not only me but many other workers also hope to rent social housing apartments at preferential prices and guaranteed quality, with lots of entertainment space and utilities," said Mr. Khu.
