Union officials hope to have more workers admitted to the Party
Union officials expect the 14th National Congress of the Party to have decisions to support union members and small and medium-sized enterprises, creating conditions for workers to directly join the Party more.
Mr. Luu Kim Hong - Member of the Party Committee of the Ho Chi Minh City High-Tech Park Management Board, Party Cell Secretary, Chairman of the Trade Union of Nidec Vietnam Company:
Over the years, the focus on developing the Party among workers, especially workers directly involved in production, has always been of interest, support and facilitation by Party committees and authorities at all levels. Currently, the Nidec Vietnam Company Party Cell has 12 Party members.
According to Mr. Hong, in reality, in many enterprises, the admission of direct workers to the Party still faces many difficulties. Firstly, the situation of workers is fluctuating a lot and quickly, so the time for the Party cell to observe and challenge to create a source for Party development is also affected. Second, in many cases, the verification of the background of Party supporters is still prolonged, sometimes before verification, workers have quit or changed jobs, so there are no results. Third, most of the P Party Agility Training classes for union members and excellent workers are held during the day, while it is difficult for workers to take a few consecutive days off to attend these classes.
From there, Mr. Hong suggested that it is necessary to consider improving procedures and documents to make the admission to the Party for workers more and more favorable; thereby, more direct production workers will be admitted to the Party.
Mr. Le Tan Luu - Chairman of Binh Tan Technology Motorbike taxi Union, Binh Tri Dong Ward, Ho Chi Minh City:
Due to the nature of union members being freelance workers, working in the informal environment, without co-level government, without union funds, while the lives of many union members are still difficult. Therefore, we hope that the Party and State will continue to improve policies for informal workers, especially technology workers, to ensure social security benefits, health care and support when at risk.
Vietnam has committed to the 26th United Nations Climate Change Summit (COP26) on net zero emissions by 2050. To realize this commitment, the Party and the State have had a green conversion policy, including converting cars and motorbikes from gasoline to electricity.
Currently, many members of the Binh Tan Technology Motorbike taxi Union and technology motorbike taxi drivers still use gasoline vehicles, and want to switch to electric vehicles to implement the green conversion policy, but face capital difficulties. Therefore, we hope that when implementing the policy of green conversion and vehicle conversion, there should be a suitable roadmap and support mechanism for union members and workers to switch from gasoline-powered vehicles to electric vehicles to borrow capital with preferential interest rates, avoiding creating financial pressure on low-income workers.
Mr. Tran Van Thang - Chairman of the Phu Dinh Ward Trade Union, Ho Chi Minh City:
Phu Dinh ward has many freelance workers, imported workers and most of them are small-scale enterprises. Therefore, we hope that the 14th National Congress of the Party will propose breakthrough strategies to promote strong economic development. In particular, there are more practical support policies for small and medium-sized enterprises, helping them to stand firm in the face of challenges, thereby ensuring jobs and income for workers, especially the immigrant labor force that is directly contributing to the development of the locality.
We also hope that the Party will lead and direct the further concretization of regulations on the functions, tasks, powers and responsibilities of ward, commune and special-zone trade unions - a new model when implementing two-level local government. Clearly defining the organizational model will help ward, commune and special-use sector trade unions have enough mechanisms and resources to closely monitor and promptly support the group of freelance workers and union members in small enterprises.
In addition, we hope that the Party and State will continue to promote the implementation of priority and preferential policies on social housing, health care and education in areas with a large number of immigrant workers, helping workers far from home feel secure in " settling down and making a living", narrowing the gap between rich and poor and ensuring that all people enjoy the common development results of the country.
Grassroots union officials are sending their full confidence and expectations to the 14th National Congress of the Party - which will decide new steps in the country's development. With the spirit of being ready to welcome new opportunities and fates, we believe that the policies and decisions from the Congress will pave the way for the country to develop a breakthrough, said Mr. Thang.
