Salary level for Commune Police Chief expected from July 1st

Article 5 of Decree No. 33/2023/ND-CP stipulates cadres and civil servants at the commune level and non-specialized personnel at the commune level, in villages and residential groups, accordingly, the title of Head of Commune Police is not included in the list of positions and titles of commune-level cadres and civil servants.

Instead, the Head of the Commune Police is a title belonging to the People's Police force, in accordance with the construction of regular commune police applied nationwide according to Decree No. 42/2021/ND-CP.

According to the 2018 Law on People's Public Security, the title of Head of Police of communes, wards, and towns has the highest military rank of Lieutenant Colonel.

Therefore, the salary level of commune police is determined according to military ranks from non-commissioned officer rank to Lieutenant Colonel rank according to the salary coefficient specified in the salary scale of military ranks of officers of the People's Army; officers and non-commissioned officers of the People's Police issued together with Decree No. 204/2004/ND-CP.

The salary of commune police officers is calculated as follows: Salary = Salary coefficient x Base salary.

From July 1, 2026, the base salary expected to be applied is 2,530,000 VND/month.

Therefore, from July 1, 2026, the salary of commune police is expected according to the table below:

In addition to the basic salary, commune police also enjoy regimes on official housing, seniority allowances beyond the frame and support policies on social housing according to regulations.
