Mr. Hoang Thanh Tung (22 years old, Bach Mai ward, Hanoi) - a student majoring in Information Technology - shared that because he had not graduated, he had difficulty finding a job in the right profession. For nearly half a year now, he has been renting a technology motorbike taxi to earn more income.
My schedule is mainly in the morning, in the afternoon I drive, each day I earn about 200,000 - 300,000 VND, enough to cover my living expenses. The important thing is that I get the time to proactively spend" - Mr. Tung said.
Similarly, Ms. Dinh Thi Ha (Ba Dinh ward, Hanoi) with a bachelor's degree in Communications also chose a free career after graduating. Since her college years, she has worked as a model for advertisements and product consulting for fashion stores, handbags, shoes, etc. Seeing her flexible work, not being lenient, she continues to pursue a freelance career instead of being attached to a fixed office.
"Currently, I am doing live bag advertising work at home. Although he did not go to the company, the job helped him earn 20 - 30 million VND/month. I also see this as an opportunity to practice skills and catch up with technology trends. However, to have a long-term direction for my current job, I clearly define my goals and specific orientations to always renew my self-knowledge, Ms. Ha shared.
Working at a private company specializing in 3D design of labels and packaging products, Ms. Le Dung Hanoi believes that young employees are currently very dynamic and creative. However, I see that young people need to improve their soft skills and hard skills to suit the job.
"During the recruitment sessions, we mostly only recruited part-time candidates who refused right when working in the office. By exploiting the wishes of candidates, many young people tend to work independently, some want to do other jobs than the professional skills they have studied before. Therefore, the company also has difficulty in retaining young workers."
The freelance working trend is increasingly popular among young people, especially those who want to take the initiative to spend time and experience many different fields before stabilizing their careers. However, according to experts, in addition to the advantage of flexibility, young people also need to have a long-term plan and clear orientation to avoid falling into the situation of "working a lot but not going far", losing opportunities for career development in the future.
