There are still students who lack understanding of the Labor Law and the labor market
According to a recent survey, Hanoi students' understanding of the Labor Law and the labor market is very "based".
The Hanoi Employment Service Center has just issued a November " Job picture for students in Hanoi". The newsletter is built based on survey data from more than 3,000 students in the third quarter of 2025. The book provides a direct, multi-dimensional view of the practical capacity of the capital's young human resources, while pointing out alarming "spaces" in practical skills and preparation for the labor market.
According to the survey, 84.6% of students see the Labor Law as important, but 74.27% do not clearly understand their basic rights.
Regarding specific knowledge: 48.27% know the maximum probationary period according to the law; 51.42% know cases where employees are unilaterally terminated labor contracts.
The Hanoi Employment Service Center believes that a lack of understanding of labor contracts, social insurance, unemployment insurance, etc. can cause many risks when going to work, especially internships or extra work.
In addition, students do not know the official support channels: 84.48% do not know or are uncertain about the city's employment support policies; only 4.17% consider the Hanoi Employment Service Center as the main source of information.
The survey also shows that students are vague about labor supply and demand when only 33.41% are confident in understanding trends and competition in majors; 39.17% admit that they know very little/not much about human resource needs in Hanoi and only 38.85% proactively update news regularly.
Worryingly, students have not clearly distinguished between work and career because they still think about finding a short-term job instead of building a long-term career path. 49.64% have not/are learning about their career path; 53.1% know the basics of job requirements, but only 21.09% really understand.
