52.4% of job seekers in Hanoi want a salary of 5-10 million VND/month
According to the Hanoi Employment Service Center, in May 2026, job seekers want a salary of 5-10 million VND/month, accounting for 52.4% of total demand.
The Hanoi Employment Service Center believes that May is the time when workers tend to look for new job opportunities to increase income. Along with that, businesses also restart production and business activities, creating many vacant job positions, especially in the general labor group and office workers.
Based on surveys and information gathered from 3,100 job seekers of the Center, the desired salary of workers is mainly from 5-10 million VND/month (accounting for 52.4%). This is the common salary on the market, suitable for untrained workers, technical workers or new office workers/low-level.
Salaries from 10-20 million VND/month account for 40.5%. This is the expected salary level for people with good professional qualifications (such as university graduates or intermediate/high-level professionals with experience).
Salaries over 20 million VND/month account for 6.2%, concentrated in senior personnel such as leaders, managers or experienced experts.
Regarding age, workers looking for jobs mainly focus on the age group from 35-54, accounting for 43.8%, showing that a significant number of middle-aged workers are in need of job conversion.
Next is the group from 25-34 years old accounting for 39.0%. This is the most dynamic age group, has accumulated 3-10 years of experience, is in a period of strong career development, so the need to change jobs for promotion, increase income or change environment is very large.
The group from 15-24 years old accounts for 13.8%, reflecting the job search needs of new graduates, interns or young workers with little experience. This group tends to look for new starting positions to learn and experience.
The group aged 55 and over accounts for 3.3%, in this group, job seekers are often experts, senior advisors or people who need to work part-time to maintain dynamism.
Hanoi Employment Service Center said that the labor market is witnessing a boom in job search demand from two completely opposite groups in terms of qualifications, accounting for more than 70% of the total number of job seekers. Leading is the group of workers with university degrees or higher with 37.9%, reflecting the very large competitive pressure for jobs of intellectual workers, bachelors, engineers. The supply of workers with bachelor's degrees is currently very abundant and they tend to actively look for or change their working environment. Closely following is the group of untrained workers with 33.2%. The high job search rate of this group stems from the fact that jobs that do not require qualifications, often have low stability, high job turnover rates or seasonal workers losing their jobs have to find new jobs.
The job search trend of workers is concentrated at two poles, either with high professional qualifications, or without qualifications. This indicates the reality of "surplus, shortage of quality". The supply of general labor and office workers is surplus, exceeding actual demand. Conversely, the group of skilled technical workers (intermediate/college level) and highly qualified professional workers who meet the strict standards of businesses are seriously lacking," said Mr. Vu Quang Thanh, Deputy Director of Hanoi Employment Service Center.
