HCMC - The City People's Committee proposed to adjust the minimum wage division from region III to region II for 6 communes and Con Dao Special Zone.
A source from Lao Dong Newspaper on October 11 said that the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee has just sent a document to the Ministry of Home Affairs on adjusting the minimum wage division for some communes, wards and special zones in Ho Chi Minh City.
Accordingly, the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee requested the Ministry of Home Affairs to promptly recommend the Government to issue a Decree on the minimum wage in 2026. In particular, adjusting the minimum wage division from region III to region II for Kim Long commune, Chau Duc commune, Ngai Giao commune, Nghia Thanh commune, Long Hai commune, Long Dien commune and Con Dao special zone in Ho Chi Minh City.

As Lao Dong Newspaper has reported many times, the draft regulations on regional minimum wages that are being consulted stipulates that some communes and wards in Ho Chi Minh City, although adjacent, apply the regional minimum wage of region I (VND 5.31 million/month) and region III (VND 4.14 million/month) with a difference of 28.3%. This can have a negative impact on labor relations.
From the proposal of the Ho Chi Minh City Labor Federation, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Home Affairs met with a number of communes and special areas of Con Dao, thereby agreeing on the proposal to adjust the minimum wage division from region III to region II for Kim Long commune, Chau Duc commune, Ngai Giao commune, Nghia Thanh commune, Long Hai commune, Long Dien commune.
In particular, the Con Dao Special Zone proposed to consider adjusting the minimum wage here from region III to region I (5.31 million VND/month) with the reason that the cost of living here is higher than on land and the average income here is more than 9 million VND/month.
