Workers working through Tet at APEC construction site receive additional bonuses

According to leaders of Sun Group, during the Binh Ngo Lunar New Year holiday 2026, thousands of workers will still work throughout Tet at the APEC mega-construction site in Phu Quoc special zone, An Giang province.

The Phu Quoc International Airport expansion investment project requires completion on December 31, 2026. Therefore, during this Tet holiday, a powerful force with more than 1,400 workers and 150 technical staff volunteered to stay to work throughout Tet. Maintaining this construction pace is important for the entire project.

Accordingly, at the T2 passenger terminal item, increasing labor and overtime will shorten the time to complete the roof structure and roofing, thereby reducing pressure on the completion items behind. For the airfield area, organizing construction throughout Tet helps shorten the completion time and put into operation key items, creating an early premise for acceptance, operation and synchronization of aviation infrastructure.

For the APEC Conference and Exhibition Center and Multi-purpose Performance House project, contractors continue to organize construction throughout Tet with a force of nearly 1,000 workers. Construction work mainly focuses on the rough structure, in order to create conditions for site clearance and progress to promptly meet the installation of steel structures in the next phase. This determination is not only aimed at shortening the overall progress but also affirming the superior construction capacity of Vietnamese contractors at international-level projects.

The provincial road project DT 975, connecting Phu Quoc International Airport with APEC Convention Center, maintains a construction atmosphere with more than 80 people, which is the core force helping the project ensure progress requirements.

Mr. Nguyen Tien Hop - Deputy Director of the APEC 2027 PPP Projects Management Board, Sun Group - said that contractors always ensure a large number of workers working throughout Tet, meeting progress requirements. Maintaining construction during Tet helps take advantage of the best weather days to accelerate project progress. At the same time, it helps improve the spirit of staff and contractors, creating momentum right after Tet, without delaying for one day.

According to leaders of Sun Group, in some projects, in addition to salaries, employees working throughout Tet will receive an additional 1 million VND/day, along with other benefits and have a Tet kitchen, preparing a Tet meal like a family.

Mobilizing thousands of personnel to work throughout Tet in Phu Quoc special zone is an unprecedented effort, affirming the determination of the investor Sun Group and contractors, demonstrating the sense of responsibility of each worker and engineer who are sticking to the construction site day and night.
