Workers bring the whole Spring to reunite with their families
Hanoi - Workers returning to their hometowns to celebrate Tet on buses organized by the Trade Union bring bouquets of flowers for the new Spring.
Many workers traveling by Trade Union buses to their hometowns for Tet have brought bouquets of flowers as if bringing Spring from the Capital to reunite with their families. The types of flowers chosen by many workers to bring home are lilies and roses.
Ms. Tran Thi Minh Nguyet's family, a worker at Mitsui Vietnam Co., Ltd., with 4 people, arrived at the gathering point to get on the bus early. In addition to luggage including clothes of the couple and 2 children, there was also a bouquet of lilies and a bouquet of roses. Ms. Nguyet said that because she was safe on the Trade Union bus, the seats were spacious, and she did not pick up passengers along the way, she took the opportunity to buy flowers to bring back to her hometown for Tet.
According to Ms. Nguyet, flowers bought in Hanoi at that time were much cheaper than in the countryside, calculated at about 70,000 VND/lily branch (light-eared type), 3,000 VND/rose. Therefore, they bought flowers for both families.
Both husband and wife are from Nghe An (her husband has also been a worker in Hanoi for over 10 years), so if they don't take the Trade Union bus, it will cost about 1,500,000 VND/trip for 4 people. Including the return trip and the return trip to Hanoi to work after the Tet holiday, it will cost about 3,000,000 VND. Now being able to take the free Trade Union bus, they deduct a large part of that money to add to the money to give to their parents during Tet, and the rest to buy flowers and buy some more candies.
Staying at home to celebrate Tet with my parents until the 5th day of Tet, the whole family returns to Hanoi to clean the house, preparing for a year of work, a new semester on schedule.
Having worked in Hanoi for quite a long time, now their eldest child is in 7th grade, the second child is in 3rd grade. The tuition fees for their children and rent, electricity and water bills account for a significant amount of the couple's nearly 20 million VND/month income.
The new Spring brings many hopes for worker couples. Like Ms. Nguyet and her husband, they want to buy social housing to settle down here.
