The power of emulation movements

In recent years, the Electricity sector has been assigned to simultaneously implement many projects of strategic significance for socio-economic development and ensuring national energy security. The most prominent and iconic is the 500kV Line 3 Project from Quang Trach (Quang Binh) - Pho Noi (Hung Yen). This is the largest project in the history of the Electricity industry in terms of total route length, number of pole foundation locations, construction volume and terrain complexity.

Tens of thousands of engineers and workers have worked simultaneously from Quang Binh to Pho Noi, working day and night, through Holidays and Tet with familiar slogans at the construction site: "Only discuss work, not backtracking"; " take advantage of eating, sleep urgently, work in 3 shifts and 4 teams"; "Overcome the sun, overcome rain, not lose to wind and storm; do not work enough during the day, take advantage of working at night". The efforts of each individual in a united group have brought the project to the finish line ahead of schedule. This result is not only a technical achievement but also a vivid testament to the strength of the patriotic emulation movement in the Electricity industry in the new era.

Discussing the organization and implementation of emulation movements on key national projects in 2025, Mr. Do Duc Hung - Member of the Executive Committee of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, Chairman of the Vietnam Electricity Trade Union said that following this success, the Vietnam Electricity Trade Union continues to coordinate with the professional launch of emulation at 7 key national projects, including: 500kV Lao Cai - Vinh Yen transmission line, Hoa Binh Hydropower Plant expansion, Quang Trach I Thermal Power Plant, National grid supply for Con Dao district, 500kV Vinh Yen substation, 220kV Nghia Lo - Viet Tri substation Project, 220kV Vung Ang substation. Many projects have been completed on schedule and ahead of schedule, contributing to solving urgent requirements for power supply, enhancing system stability and improving national transmission capacity.

The "fastest5" emulation movement

One of the factors for the completion of key national projects undertaken by the Electricity sector ahead of schedule is the vitality of the emulation movement coordinated by the Trade Union. In particular, the "500 Best" emulation movement jointly launched by the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor and Vietnam Electricity Group in power line, hydropower, and thermal power projects has created a vibrant competitive atmosphere, with clear goals and specific criteria: fastest progress - Best quality - Best safety, safety, safety, safety - Best creativity - Best care for life.

Analyzing the factors that make emulation movements vibrant, the Chairman of the Vietnam Electricity Trade Union emphasized: Emulation movements will be truly effective when associated with specific goals. Typically, the emulation movement "Accelerating the investment and construction progress of EVN's key projects in 2025", the emulation content is concretized with the theme "Three pioneers, Two responsibilities": Pioneering in infrastructure, Pioneering in completing progress, Pioneering in overcoming difficulties; Responsibility for ensuring quality, Responsibility for saving, fighting waste... This reality shows that the more specific and effective the goal is, the clearer it is.

In addition, emulation must be associated with caring for workers' lives. The spirit of competition only truly spreads and is sustainable when employees feel a real concern for working conditions, material and spiritual life, and are rewarded for their efforts. In recent emulation campaigns on key projects of the Electricity sector, trade unions at all levels of the Group have organized many visits and encouragement for workers at the construction site, improved living conditions, and added spiritual strength to workers, helping them feel secure in their work and enthusiastically contribute.
