LD26191: Fisherman dies in accident, leaving behind 2 young children, elderly sick father
An Giang - Unfortunately, encountering an accident while fishing, the unfortunate fisherman passed away forever, leaving behind his wife, 2 young children and a sick elderly father in a makeshift leaf house.
That is the case of the family of Mr. N.H. A, 38 years old, residing in Giai Phong hamlet, Hung My commune, Ca Mau province - a fisherman who died in the Phu Quoc sea area recently.
On August 3rd, Mr. H.A and the captain went fishing and unfortunately encountered an accident and fell into the sea. Functional forces stationed in the area and Phu Quoc special zone (An Giang) made efforts to support the search as soon as they received the news. On August 5th, Mr. A's body was found and handed over to his family. The captain who went with him also died (found on August 4th).
Mr. A's family circumstances are too difficult, charities and people in Phu Quoc have joined hands to support, help with funeral arrangements and take Mr. A back to his hometown in Ca Mau for burial. Under the fishing port, his wife and 2 7-year-old daughters (twins) were stunned by the sudden passing of their husband and father.
Ms. Le Thi Kim Duc (from Phu Quoc) - Mr. A's wife choked up and recounted: Mr. A used to work as a ferryman, the whole family lived on rafts (only for living, not for raising fish) to save money on renting a house. Ms. Duc also worked as a hired laborer, although life was hard, she saved money to make ends meet. Unfortunately, when Mr. A followed to fish for a few days, an incident occurred. 2 daughters are in 2nd grade this year, about to start the new school year, but the family encountered such an upheaval, Ms. Duc also does not know how to bear it.
“Now I try to take care of the funeral for my husband in my hometown of Ca Mau, then I will return to Phu Quoc to prepare for my 2 children to go to school. In the near future, we will still live on rafts to have a place to worship him, I will also go looking for hired work to have money to take my children to school. Misfortune came suddenly, my husband is no longer there, so I can only try to take care of my children,” Ms. Duc confided.
Ms. Dinh Thi Thanh Thuy, Member of the Standing Committee of the Phu Quoc Special Zone Poor Patient Support Association, An Giang province, said: "As soon as we received the information, we investigated and verified H.A's case, it was really extremely difficult. A lived with his wife and 2 daughters temporarily on a fish raft in the An Thoi area. When A passed away, we mobilized many sources, and other charities also joined hands to help with funeral arrangements and vehicles to take him back to his hometown. Phu Quoc people, when they saw his situation, all felt sorry for him and contributed to help A somewhat. We have recounted the amount of money people sent to support is 18.7 million VND and have transferred it to the hamlet authorities to hand over to A's family.
Mr. Le Kha Nua, Secretary of the Giai Phong hamlet Party Cell, said: Mr. A's family is particularly difficult, having gone to work far away for many years and just returned to the locality recently. The locality, along with the people and neighbors, together supported planting trees and leaves to build a temporary house for Mr. A's father to live in and supported rice and food somewhat. Mr. A's father is 61 years old this year, old and weak, sick and cannot earn money. The land for building the house was also given to stay as a lodging, not family land. The family does not have a poor household registration book because they have just returned to the locality to temporarily reside nearby, so they have not been able to make a dossier.
“After hearing the news of H.A's death, taking her back to her hometown for burial, the locality also mobilized to support rice and vegetables and fruits to organize the funeral. The locality really hopes that philanthropists and golden hearts near and far can help H.A's family because now there is no one to support them to make money, the elderly father is sick, the 2 children are still too young, and the future of their children going to school later,” Mr. Nua expressed.
