LD26014: Boy exhausted after 4 years of double skull transplantation, 4 leg surgery
The accident forced Mr. Minh to have surgery to remove and graft the skull twice, leaving many serious sequelae.
Mr. Pham Van Minh (born in 1992) was born into an incomplete family. Without a father or mother, he got married when he was only 5 years old, and was raised by his grandmother in Xuan Lai commune, Tien Lang district, Hai Phong city. At the age of 13, his grandmother passed away, he moved to Na Mo village, Binh Lieu commune, Quang Ninh province to live with his mother and stepfather.
At the age of 16, Mr. Minh dropped out of school, worked for hire and rented a room to make ends meet. In October 2019, he got married. He thought he would have his own home from here, but not long after his happiness lasted, an accident suddenly occurred.
Less than a year after the wedding, while carrying the bonsai to the homeowner, the bonsai broke, and he was thrown over the railing of the second floor, fell onto the corrugated iron roof and then added the soil. The accident caused Mr. Minh to have a broken skull, a collapsed lung, and a jaw expansion.

After the accident, Mr. Minh was taken to the emergency room and had to undergo emergency brain surgery. The surgery helped save his life, but he fell into a vegetative state that lasted for a month. To ensure safety during the treatment, the doctors were forced to have surgery to remove the skull and send it to Hanoi for 6 months.
Due to the long time spent on treatment and inability to move, Mr. Minh developed many serious complications such as side sticks, shoulder sticks that prevented his hands from being raised, and his mouth was crooked. During this time, he also suffered a serious aiope loca, and his necrotic tissue had to be removed. Only after stable treatment of complications did he qualify for a skull transplant.
Over the past 4 years, Mr. Minh has undergone a total of 6 surgeries, including 2 times of taking and transplanting the skull, 1 time of surgery on the right leg and 3 times of surgery on the left leg due to not achieving the desired results. Currently, he is still unable to walk normally on his own, having to use a U-shaped stick to practice short steps during the rehabilitation process.

Every month, Mr. Minh has to be hospitalized for about 20 days at the Quang Ninh Geriatric and Rehabilitation Hospital, then return home for a few days and then be hospitalized again. The prolonged treatment caused the family's economy to increasingly exhausted.
He is no longer able to work, all living expenses and treatment depend on his elderly mother who has many underlying diseases such as diabetes, heart valve failure, and kidney disease.
As for his wife, about 2 years after Mr. Minh had the incident, his wife returned to her parents' house to live. He currently lives with his mother and stepfather. The family said that they had to sell almost all of their assets to have money to treat him over the years.
"My mother also carries all kinds of diseases. Her mother had diabetes, heart valve failure, kidney disease, and a few years ago, she had a broken rib and underwent knee surgery. My mother sold everything to treat me, now she is exhausted, Minh choked up.
Sharing at the hospital, Mr. Minh said that his biggest wish at present is to have money to continue surgery and rehabilitation, with the hope of soon being able to walk on his own two feet, reducing the burden on his family after many years of treatment.
"What I want most right now is to continue to have surgery and rehabilitation, but my family's circumstances are very difficult. I really don't know what to do anymore," Mr. Minh shared.
