Information from the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Home Affairs on December 26 said that by the end of December 25, 3,802 enterprises (employing more than 694,300 workers) in Ho Chi Minh City reported on the salary situation in 2025 and the bonus plan for employees during the New Year and Lunar New Year 2026.
According to the summary of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Home Affairs, the highest bonus is for enterprises in the electronics - information technology industry; food processing; software development; real estate business... Small-scale manufacturing enterprises and enterprises employing simple workers have lower bonuses.
For the 2026 Lunar New Year, the average bonus is about 1.93 million VND/person, an increase of 10.5% compared to the survey results of 2025 (1.75 million VND/person).
For the Lunar New Year 2026, the average bonus is about 12.02 million VND/person, an increase of 6.8% compared to the Lunar New Year 2025 (11.26 million VND/person).
Also according to the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Home Affairs, the highest Lunar New Year bonus for an individual is 1.841 billion VND, belonging to a foreign-invested enterprise (FDI), down about 3.1% compared to the highest level of nearly 1.9 billion VND for Tet 2025.
Of the 3,802 enterprises submitting reports on the 2026 Tet bonus plan, 719 enterprises (accounting for 18.91%) have information that is difficult in giving Tet bonuses to employees. The reason is that production and business activities during the year still have many difficulties, orders have decreased, businesses have to narrow operations, it is difficult to recover debts, pay interest... affecting business results for the whole year and expected bonuses.
However, most enterprises are interested in, sharing, and trying to implement Tet bonuses for employees according to bonus regulations, collective labor agreements, and labor contracts.
Also according to the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Home Affairs, during the Lunar New Year, Binh Ngo has 366 enterprises that have not planned to give Tet bonuses.
