On the afternoon of May 15, the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front held a conference to collect opinions on the draft Resolution amending and supplementing a number of articles of the 2013 Constitution of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam.

Vice Chairman of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF) Hoang Cong Thuy chaired the conference.

The conference was attended by Ms. Ha Thi Khiet, former Secretary of the Party Central Committee, former Head of the Central Committee for Mass Mobilization, non-professional Vice President of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front; Ms. Nguyen Thi Doan, former Vice President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, non-professional Vice President of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front; members of the Presidium; leaders of socio-political organizations, member organizations of the Vietnam Fatherland Front; professional departments of the Office of the President, the Government Office, the Office of the National Assembly, the Ministry of Justice, and the Ministry of Home Affairs.

Speaking at the conference, Vice Chairman Hoang Cong Thuy stated that Resolution No. 60-NQ/TW of the 11th Conference of the 13th Party Central Committee agreed on the orientation of building a model of organizing local government at 2 levels, arranging socio-political organizations and mass organizations assigned by the Party and the State to join the Vietnam Fatherland Front. Therefore, this amendment to the Constitution is very necessary to create a foundation for the implementation of the revolution of streamlining the apparatus; building, perfecting, and improving the effectiveness of the political system, meeting the requirements and tasks of national development in the new situation.

According to Mr. Hoang Cong Thuy, the scope of the amendment is limited, focusing only on 8/120 Articles of the 2013 Constitution, in order to promptly institutionalize the Party's policy on arranging the Vietnam Fatherland Front agencies, socio-political organizations, and mass organizations assigned by the Party and the State, perfecting the model of organizing local government at two levels in the direction of being closer to the people, closer to the people, and better serving the people.
