Minh Hoang 2 Garment Company Limited has paid unemployment insurance debts, helping more than 250 workers receive subsidies and find new jobs. However, the company still owes more than 10 billion VND in social insurance and is committed to paying in installments in the coming time.

Enterprises face difficulties, workers are affected

On April 15, Mr. Nguyen Qui Quy - Deputy Director of the Department of Home Affairs of Quang Nam province - said that after many days of delay, the leaders of Minh Hoang 2 Garment Company (Dien Nam - Dien Ngoc Industrial Park, Dien Ban town) had an official working session with the authorities of Quang Nam province at the company's office in Ho Chi Minh City. Thereby, in order to remove obstacles related to the rights of hundreds of employees who have worked at enterprises.

At the meeting, the leaders of Minh Hoang 2 Garment Company Limited admitted their responsibility for allowing social insurance and unemployment insurance debts to persist and not properly implementing commitments to employees. The company's leaders explained that the company encountered many difficulties due to no orders, and the sharp decline in garment products exported to the US, leading to the risk of having to close.

"The enterprise acknowledges the direct impacts on the lives of hundreds of employees and hopes that state management agencies as well as employees will sympathize and share" - Mr. Quy said.

In response to the recommendations of the employees, Mr. Quy raised 3 issues that the company needs to resolve in the short term, including: Paying unemployment insurance so that employees are eligible for benefits, closing the social insurance book and issuing a decision to terminate the labor contract according to regulations.

"The wishes of employees are clear: They need their social insurance books to be finalized to receive unemployment benefits or find a new job elsewhere that can add to the time participating in social insurance" - Mr. Quy added.

A representative of the Social Insurance sector XXII said that up to now, the enterprise has transferred more than 120 million VND in unemployment insurance debt. The Social Insurance Agency is urgently completing procedures to close the book, creating conditions for employees to complete their unemployment benefit application.

It is expected that on April 16, the leaders of Minh Hoang 2 Company will organize a dialogue with employees in Quang Nam to find a common voice and resolve the remaining social insurance debt of more than 10 billion VND - Mr. Quy added.

Social insurance debt repayment period of more than 10 billion VND

Regarding the 2025 Lunar New Year bonus, the company admitted that it is difficult to pay employees as committed, because the enterprise has temporarily suspended operations and has no source of revenue.

Regarding social insurance debts, the company representative said that the total current debt has reached more than 10 billion VND. The company committed to paying monthly installments, at about 400 million VND/month to gradually resolve this long debt.

Previously, on April 8, hundreds of workers gathered in front of the gate of Minh Hoang 2 Garment Company at Dien Nam - Dien Ngoc Industrial Park, Dien Ban town to request the enterprise to resolve the following benefits: Lunar New Year bonus 2025, social insurance (SI), unemployment insurance and termination procedures.

According to records, as of April 15, the company only has 5 employees operating at a low level, while the previous number of employees was over 250 people. Many people have quit their jobs in accordance with legal regulations, but the company still does not issue a decision to quit their jobs, does not complete social insurance procedures, seriously affecting the rights of employees.

Talking to reporters of Lao Dong Newspaper, many workers expressed their joy at having their unemployment insurance settled, but were still worried about the social insurance payment being delayed.

"I hope the company will fulfill its commitment so that we can soon add social insurance when going to work elsewhere, because if it takes so long, the damage will be huge" - Ms. Nguyen Thi Tinh (name changed), a worker who quit her job in February 2025.

The representative of the Trade Union of Economic Zones and Industrial Parks of Quang Nam province also affirmed that they will continue to accompany and guide employees to carry out the procedures for filing a lawsuit if the enterprise does not fully fulfill its obligations.
