More than 300 workers of May Fivestar Ha Tinh Joint Stock Company are owed wages
All workers of May Fivestar Ha Tinh Joint Stock Company are collectively stopping work to protest the company's late payment of salaries, Tet bonuses and late payment of social insurance.
Workers are upset about the impact on their rights
On March 5, the garment factory of May Fivestar Ha Tinh Joint Stock Company in Dai Kim Industrial Park (Son Kim 1 commune, Ha Tinh province) closed due to workers stopping work collectively to protest against being late in paying salaries, Tet bonuses and late payment of social insurance.
According to workers' reflections, they have not received salaries for January and February 2026, and Tet bonuses for Binh Ngo Lunar New Year 2026. They are also owed social insurance for December 2025 and January 2026.
Promising at the dialogue and then breaking promise
On March 5, Mr. Luong Sy Hiep - Vice Chairman of Son Kim 1 Commune People's Committee - said that on February 26, May Fivestar Ha Tinh Joint Stock Company organized a dialogue with workers, with the participation of representatives of the local government of Son Kim 1 commune, the Provincial Economic Zone Management Board, Ha Tinh Provincial Labor Federation, and Ha Tinh Provincial Police.
At the dialogue, representatives of May Fivestar Ha Tinh Joint Stock Company committed to pay the January 2026 salary on March 3, 2026; social insurance for December 2025 and January 2026 will be paid on March 3, 2026; 50% of Tet bonus will be paid on March 3, 2026 and the remaining 50% of Tet bonus will be paid on March 10, 2026; salaries for the days workers worked in February 2026 (month with many Tet holidays) will also be paid on March 10, 2026. However, these payment commitments have not yet been paid to workers.
Representatives of the Department of Home Affairs and the Commune People's Committee came to the company to work, but they said they had not paid because the owner from Korea had not transferred money back. After that, they promised to pay on March 6th," Mr. Hiep informed.
Also according to Mr. Hiep, the garment factory of May Fivestar Ha Tinh Joint Stock Company in Son Kim 1 commune does not know when it will reopen. Initially, it is focusing on paying salaries, bonuses and social insurance for employees, then employers and employees will agree on the next contents.
