The Dong Nai Provincial Federation of Labor said that regarding the situation of union members and workers returning to work after Tet, up to now, 678,937/699,935 union members and workers have returned to work, reaching a rate of 97%. The number of employees on maternity leave is 8,916; on sick leave is 2,132; the rest are on personal leave and have extended annual leave; the administrative and career sector alone has reached 100%.
However, according to the reporter of Lao Dong Newspaper from the grassroots trade unions, currently at some enterprises after the Tet holiday, hundreds of workers have not returned to the factory to work.
The union chairman at a company in Nhon Trach 1 Industrial Park, Nhon Trach district, with about 8,000 union members and workers, said that it was only in the first working days of 2025 after the Lunar New Year holiday, but there were more than 400 workers absent without permission.
"If workers take many days off without a license, they will likely quit their jobs immediately, while currently recruiting workers is very difficult" - a representative of this unit shared.
Similarly, shoe businesses with over 6,000 workers in Suoi Tre Industrial Park, Long Khanh City - are also "running around" recruiting about 600 more workers to compensate for the number of workers who do not return to work after Tet.
The representative of the company's union shared that due to the recent payment of their salary, about 600 workers did not return to work after the Tet holiday.
In 2025, Dong Nai will need tens of thousands of workers, but the source of recruitment is scarce. After Tet, businesses are recruiting heavily, but the application documents are few, many places face the risk of a shortage of hundreds of workers.
The authorities forecast the labor demand in 2025 in Dong Nai province to be more than 75,000 people, concentrated in key areas such as Bien Hoa city (18,500 people), Nhon Trach district (17,500 people), Trang Bom district (more than 9,000 people)... Of the demand for 75,000 workers, the demand for untrained labor is nearly 55,000 people.
High demand but businesses can only recruit "a small drop"
According to the reporter, right after the Lunar New Year holiday, a series of businesses in Dong Nai have stepped up the recruitment of workers in large quantities to serve the expansion of new orders. However, businesses can only recruit "a small drop". Some businesses even have to proactively distribute leaflets in wards and communes in the area where factories are located and neighboring districts to recruit more workers.
According to statistics from the Dong Nai Provincial Employment Service Center, the demand for job recruitment after Tet, from January 1 to February 6, businesses need to recruit more than 5,500 workers, most of whom are unskilled workers (more than 5,200 people).
Recruitment demand is concentrated in 3 main occupations including: Garment - leather shoes - weaving - fashion design (2,984 workers); electricity - electronics - refrigeration - electronic assembly - automation (1,356 workers) and construction - architecture - wood - interior decoration, construction materials (976 workers).
Enterprises recruiting a large number of workers such as Elite Long Thanh Company Limited (adidas sportswear garment processing specialist) located in Loc An Industrial Park (Long Thanh district) need to recruit 1,800 workers, of which 1,700 are unskilled workers with a salary of 7.2 - 15 million VND/person/month (depending on working capacity).
In addition, Jands Shoes Co., Ltd. ( Amata Industrial Park, Bien Hoa City) recruited 500 unskilled workers, Topband Smart Vietnam Co., Ltd. (Loc An Industrial Park, Long Thanh District) also recruited 1,000 unskilled workers.
To attract workers to work, businesses also offer many attractive policies such as Dong Phu Cuong Joint Stock Company (Dinh Quan district) recruiting 300 sewing workers and giving bonuses from 300,000 - 500,000 VND/project to the introducer; CiBao Company Limited (Suoi Tre Industrial Park, Long Khanh City) urgently recruits 1,000 unskilled workers, total income from 8.5 million VND/month or more, introduction bonus from 2.4 - 3.6 million VND...
