Poor workers overcome difficulties emotionally receive a house

We went to the Trade Union Shelters, where joy and emotion were clearly seen on the faces of the workers in difficulty in Vinh Long.

Mr. Vo Van Nhi, a worker at New Increase Company, said that the family lived with his sick mother. My monthly income is only 56 million VND, just enough to cover my expenses at home and buy medicine for my mother.

With this small amount of money, my family did not dare to think about building or repairing a house. Every day, I have to consider each spending so that I can take good care of my mother.

"The current house is dilapidated, flooded in the rainy season, and hot in the dry season. The difficulties piled up make the whole family always live in anxiety and insecurity, and having the Trade Union Shelter would like to thank the Trade Union for its help," Mr. Nhi added.

Similarly, Mr. Nguyen Nhat Tuong said that the dilapidated house of the couple had been living alone since leaving, giving birth to two young children, making life difficult.

According to Mr. Tuong, the couple works enough jobs to cover their children's living expenses and education, but have never been able to renovate or rebuild a house. Today's joy is truly too great for our family.

The house is not only a shelter from the rain and sun, but also a hope to take care of the elderly mother and young children, helping workers feel secure in their work and children feel secure in their studies.

"Now my family has a stable place to live, our children can go to school, we will make more efforts to overcome difficulties and nurture their future," Mr. Tuong added.

Continuing to take care of housing and implement livelihoods for workers

Speaking with Lao Dong, Mr. Nguyen Phuc Linh - Chairman of the Labor Federation (Vinh Long Provincial Federation of Labor) said that from the beginning of 2025 to now, 59 Trade Union Shelters have been donated to union members, workers and laborers in difficult circumstances.

According to Mr. Linh, these houses help workers stabilize their housing and work with peace of mind, improving the quality of life for their families, especially taking care of elderly mothers and young children.

In the coming time, the Provincial Federation of Labor will transfer the Trade Union Shelter Fund to the Social - Charity Fund, but will continue the housing support program for workers in difficulty.

In parallel with housing support, the Labor Federation has implemented livelihood projects, helping workers have stable jobs and incomes, reducing the pressure on living and studying expenses for children.

The Provincial Federation of Labor always considers housing and livelihoods for union members and workers in difficult circumstances as an important task. This is not only a responsibility for social security but also a long-term companionship, strengthening sustainable labor resources.

This practical concern helps workers feel confident, work with peace of mind, nurture the future of their families, and at the same time demonstrates the spirit of sharing and accompanying workers in difficulty, Mr. Linh added.
