Quang Tri - Faced with difficulties in housing for teachers in mountainous areas, the Quang Tri Provincial Federation of Labor has mobilized resources to support the construction of public housing for teachers.

Dakrong Secondary and High School ( Ta Put Commune, Dakrong District, Quang Tri Province) is located more than 100km from Dong Ha City. The road to the school is winding, the pass is steep and dangerous, it takes about 2.5 hours by motorbike to move. This is one of the educational institutions in remote areas that still face many difficulties, especially the issue of housing for teachers.

The scene had 54 cadres and teachers, only about 10 of whom had houses in the locality, the rest were from the plains and districts to strengthen. Meanwhile, the existing public housing area has only 7 rooms, not enough accommodation for all teachers. Lack of housing, many teachers have to rent houses, living conditions are not guaranteed, affecting health and teaching quality.

In addition, each school year the school welcomes about 10 more teachers, making the need for housing even more urgent.

Faced with that reality, the Quang Tri Provincial Federation of Labor promptly surveyed and agreed to support the construction of additional official housing. After more than three months of construction, the project of 3 closed rooms with full amenities has been completed, with a total cost of nearly 700 million VND. Of which, the Tam Nguyen Viet Charity Social Fund (Ho Chi Minh City) supported 200 million VND.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Thu Ha, Vice President of the Quang Tri Provincial Federation of Labor, said that the Quang Tri Provincial Trade Union and the Provincial Department of Education and Training have coordinated to mobilize funds to build the above-mentioned public housing.

"We understand that teachers in remote areas are facing many difficulties. The construction of public housing is one of the specific activities demonstrating the concern and support of the Trade Union organization for workers in the education sector".

Mr. Tran Dang An, Principal of Dakrong Secondary and High School, expressed his emotion: "For many years, the locality has invested in student facilities, but the accommodation for teachers has not received due attention. With more public housing, teachers will have less hardship, less worries about the rain and sun and feel secure in sticking with the job".

Not only Dakrong Secondary and High School, in the past, the Quang Tri Provincial Federation of Labor has mobilized 2.5 billion VND to build 5 public housing units for teachers in mountainous areas. Those small but well-off houses have become the "warm homes" of teachers far from home, contributing to keeping teachers in difficult lands, where students can still look forward to every word.
