As one of the mechanical enterprises with a long history in the Vietnam Coal and Mineral Industries, Hon Gai Mechanical Joint Stock Company - Vinacomin is closely associated with the formation and development process of Quang Ninh Mining Area.

In 2024, the company boldly invested in and mastered the technology of producing plastic pipes and rollers UHMWPE, becoming the first unit in Vietnam to successfully produce this product on an industrial scale.

UBWPE plastic pipes and rollers weigh only 50% of steel, but are 4 - 7 times more resilient to wear and tear. With durable, light, and anti-corrosion properties, the product is especially suitable for transporting coal, minerals, sand, mud, cement, etc. and has been supplied to many large units in the coal and mining industry.

In 2025, Mr. Nguyen Tai Hai (36 years old), a construction worker, and his colleagues researched and implemented the initiative "Making tools for processing rolling coil on CNC sewing machines".

According to Mr. Hai, the plastic wheel production line operates in a semi-automatic manner, each time creating a rail for the wheel axle, workers have to operate manually, which takes a lot of time.

From practical experience, Mr. Hai and his colleagues have designed and manufactured new sunglasses that allow processing to create railings at the same time for many wheel axles of different lengths and sizes. Thanks to that, processing time is significantly shortened, the accuracy and aesthetics of the product are improved, and the productivity is tripled compared to before.

Mr. Nguyen Van Ruc - Chairman of the Trade Union of Hon Gai Mechanical Joint Stock Company - said that Mr. Hai's initiative has helped the enterprise save about 250 million VND per year. The company always values workers' initiatives and creates conditions to immediately apply them in production practice, thereby contributing to reducing costs, improving product competitiveness, and increasing income for workers. In 2025, the average income will reach 13.092 million VND/person/month, equal to 123.7% of the plan.

Coming of age from the labor emulation movement

Not only in the mechanical field, from emulation movements for good labor and creative labor, many coal workers have matured, becoming typical examples, contributing to spreading the spirit of dedication throughout the industry. Mr. Pham Dinh Duan (born in 1986, from Hung Yen), a worker at Vang Danh Coal Joint Stock Company - TKV, is a typical example.

Having joined the Coal industry since 2005, Mr. Duan has been attached to the underground for more than 20 years. After working in many positions, in 2014 he was assigned to be the Head of the Production Team of Exploitation Workshop 14. Under his leadership, the production team has continuously exceeded the plan by 10 - 15% per year, achieving the title of "Excellent Labor Group" for many consecutive years.

Not only good at his expertise, Mr. Duan is also an " initiative tree" with more than 10 initiatives applied in the period of 2013 - 2025, earning a profit of over 600 million VND.

Many initiatives have been recognized at the level of the Vietnam National Coal and Mineral Industries Group and the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, contributing to improving working conditions, improving safety and efficiency of exploitation.

With outstanding contributions, on June 4, 2025, Mr. Pham Dinh Duan was awarded the title of Labor Hero.

From the practice at Hon Gai Mechanical Company, Vanh Danh Coal Company and many other enterprises, it can be seen that with the spirit of responsibility, the will to overcome difficulties and the aspiration to contribute of workers and laborers, Quang Ninh enterprises are building sustainable endogenous strength.

In 2025, the emulation movement for good and creative workers will continue to spread widely throughout the province. Workers, civil servants and laborers in Quang Ninh have had over 3,000 initiatives and solutions recognized, bringing a profit value of over 45 billion VND; 140 emulation works and products have achieved a profit value of over 8 billion VND.

These figures affirm the central role of workers in the process of innovation and creativity and at the same time show that the "power" of Quang Ninh enterprises originates from the grassroots initiative movement.
