At about 11 am on May 3, people in Bo Xanh village, Muong Gion commune discovered smoke and fire rising fiercely from the wooden house of Mr. Bac Cam To's family (born 1972).

Because the house was made of wood and far from a densely populated area with few people passing by, the fire quickly spread and engulfed the entire 4-compartment house.

After discovering the incident, people in the village shouted for help, mobilized local forces to participate in firefighting, and used available means to put out the fire.

However, due to the rapid outbreak of the fire, control was difficult. In a short time, the entire house and assets inside were completely burned down.

At the time of the fire, Mr. To's family was not home. Mr. To went to herd cows, and his wife went to the market to sell vegetables, so they did not have time to detect and rescue property.

It is known that Mr. Bac Cam To's family has been a poor household for many years in the village, and has only been asking to escape poverty for more than a year now, but still faces particularly difficult circumstances.

About 5 years ago, he had a work accident, affecting his eyes, his health deteriorated, and he lost severe labor ability.

Meanwhile, his wife also suffers from many underlying diseases, and her life mainly relies on gardening and small-scale livestock breeding. Her daughter has been married for many years, and her son works far from home. The burned house is the family's greatest asset, accumulated over many years to build.

Immediately after receiving the news, leaders of Muong Gion Commune People's Committee quickly arrived at the scene, directed the work of overcoming the consequences, and at the same time visited and encouraged the victim's family.

Mr. Hoang Van Hoc - Vice Chairman of Muong Gion Commune People's Committee, said: "Local authorities have promptly supported essential necessities such as rice, fish sauce, salt and some household items for the family to overcome immediate difficulties.

Also according to Mr. Hoc, the commune has arranged temporary accommodation for Mr. To's family at the primary school point in the area, ensuring safe accommodation while waiting for post-disaster recovery.

On the morning of May 5, Mr. Luong Van Thanh - Secretary of the Party Cell, Head of Bo Xanh village, said that on May 4, he mobilized local forces to support the family in cleaning up the scene, and at the same time cleared the area around the school site to create temporary living conditions for the couple.

People in the village also joined hands to support working days, helping the family soon stabilize their lives. Initially, it is about housing, then we will continue to mobilize additional material support," Mr. Thanh shared.

The initial cause of the fire was determined to be an electrical short circuit in the house. The incident once again sounded an alarm about the risk of fire and explosion from the domestic electrical system, especially in areas of houses made of flammable materials in rural and mountainous areas.

Currently, local authorities are continuing to call for the joint efforts of organizations and individuals to support Mr. Bac Cam To's family to soon overcome difficulties and gradually stabilize their lives.
