LD25021: Difficult family situation of a drowning person who died while rescuing 2 children in Phu Tho

As Lao Dong reported, on May 20, Mr. Dang Duy Doanh (31 years old, residing in Zone 3, Cao Xa Commune) drowned and died after trying to save 2 children who drowned on the Red River through Zone 5, Cao Xa Commune.

On May 21, in a small house in Zone 3, Cao Xa Commune, where the funeral was held for Mr. Doanh, Mr. Dang Van Phong and Mrs. Hoang Thi Nien (Mr. Doanh's parents) were still shocked by the passing of their son.

In addition, the youngest son of the family suffered from bone marrow disease. Although he spent a lot of money on treatment in 2024, he needed support from the residential area, but he has not recovered yet. The rest, Mr. Phong's two daughters have also got married.

Ms. Dang Thanh Quy (41 years old) - Mr. Doanh's older sister sadly recounted: "Doianh is the main breadwinner, the economic pillar of the family. Previously, Doanh used to work as a worker, but because his mother and younger brother were sick, for more than a year now, my younger brother has had to quit his job and stay home to work as a laborer while taking care of his mother and younger brother.

Perhaps because of the difficult family circumstances, my younger brother did not think about getting married. Now I'm no longer there, everything happened too suddenly, it's very heartbreaking".

Speaking to Lao Dong Newspaper reporter, Mr. Nguyen Huu Thuy - Chairman of the People's Committee of Cao Xa Commune, Lam Thao District - said that Mr. Phong and Mrs. Nien's family are poor households in the commune, in very difficult circumstances. After the incident, Mr. Thuy mobilized all cadres and workers of Cao Xa commune to donate about 20 million VND to help the family arrange the funeral for Doanh.

"So there was almost no one in the whole family who was healthy. Mr. Phong and Mrs. Nien are elderly and weak, have no income, their children are sick or are sick, and policy support for poor households is only limited... Therefore, we hope that businesses and philanthropists near and far will care and support the family to overcome difficulties" - Mr. Thuy shared.

Doanh's brave act of not being afraid of danger of getting into the river to save people is a noble gesture, demonstrating a sense of responsibility, compassion and worthy sacrifice.

Along with visiting, encouraging and supporting the family, Lam Thao District Youth Union has completed the dossier to submit to the Provincial Youth Union, requesting the Central Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union to consider and have appropriate forms of commendation and reward to honor the brave action of Doanh as soon as possible.
