Mid-shift meals talented like at home

Before mid-shift meals, the company's kitchen staff will place a food sample cabinet for workers to conveniently monitor the portion sizes. Each portion has a full range of salty dishes including meat, shrimp, fish and vegetables. In particular, the food serving for workers here also includes soups such as water, fried dough sticks or vegetarian dishes.

At around 10:40 a.m., hundreds of workers gathered at the company's cafeteria for lunch. Ms. Nguyen Thi Yen has worked here for 11 years, praising the meals for being delicious, the portion sizes are changing every day so she doesn't get bored. According to the collective labor agreement, the company takes care of mid-shift meals for employees, equivalent to VND19,000/meal; when living expenses increase, the meal allowance is also adjusted accordingly.

"A full diet, a very good meal. Every day, the company's union officials come down to get the opinions of the employees, asking if the workers' meals are fine, if there are problems, they will adjust them immediately," said Ms. Yen.

Since its establishment, the company has invested in building a spacious, clean dining room and kitchen area according to a one-way process. Food items are always arranged neatly, with a capacity and a container.

Although they have hired a professional unit with sufficient capacity and reputation, the import of input materials, processing and parting of food is still closely monitored by the union and medical staff.

Mr. Truong Quang Dinh, Vice Chairman of the Thanh Cong Company's Trade Union, said that the mid- shift meal plays an important role in the health of workers, directly affecting labor efficiency and productivity. Therefore, the company always pays special attention to the quality of food for workers.

To ensure the food is always fresh and delicious, the company's health department always checks regularly, clearly extracting the origin for use. The dishes are always changed every day so that workers do not feel bored, the quality of shift meals for workers is improved day by day, especially the issue of food hygiene and safety is always a priority for us, said Mr. Dinh.

Many programs to care for workers' lives

Ms. Tran Thi Thanh Chau - Chairwoman of the Thanh Cong Company's Trade Union - said that the world economic situation is facing many difficulties, purchasing power has decreased sharply due to the severe impact of the COVID-19 pandemic and the Russia-Ukraine conflict, and there have been times that have affected the company's production and business activities.

In addition, competition in the textile and garment industry is increasingly fierce, so like many other businesses, Thanh Cong Company sometimes has to accept orders at lower unit prices and reduced profit margins, but to maintain jobs and income for employees, the company still accepts orders.

With the view that workers are the most valuable capital of the enterprise, even in difficult times with orders, Thanh Cong Company still strives to ensure jobs for workers. For example, the company stops transferring orders to processing factories outside production to create jobs for the company's workers; flexibly arranges orders between quarters, stops arranging overtime to ensure orders for workers to work within the hour, thereby keeping workers' income stable.

Last Workers' Month, the company's trade union also held a signing ceremony of the Collective Labor Agreement between the company's representatives and the company's trade union representatives to enhance care for workers through the implementation of welfare policies for workers.

In addition, the trade union coordinated with the insurance company to organize the sale of motorbike insurance for nearly 500 employees at the workplace to comply with the Government's NL100 with a discount of 41.8% compared to the prescribed price. Implement a CEP Fund loan program with low interest rates to support workers who need to borrow capital and limit the situation of black credit.

At Thanh Cong Company, there is a Labor Safety and Hygiene Council (OSH) consisting of 10 members and all components according to regulations, assigning 4 full-time staff for USH, and 14 part-time staff for USH at the workshops. The company organizes a health station and establishes a clinic with a scale equivalent to a district-level hospital and essential medical equipment at the workplace, ready for emergency care and medical examination and treatment for the company's employees.
